What does BroadBand Light do?

Although the BroadBand Light treatment uses light, it is not a laser treatment. It uses intense pulsed light instead of the more focused light of a laser. Laser treatments are a single wavelength, while BroadBand Light uses a broad spectrum of light that can be filtered several different ways to treat different conditions. It also treats a larger area of skin than a laser.

BroadBand Light technology uses the power of intense pulsed light to treat skin conditions. This type of treatment is called photorejuvenation therapy, which produces younger looking skin, improved skin elasticity, and a more even skin tone and texture

BroadBand Light removes age spots, freckles, redness, small vessels, birthmarks and other unwanted marks on the skin, such as the effects of rosacea. BroadBand Light can also be used to reduce unwanted hair and control active acne. All areas of the body can be treated, such as the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

What should I expect in my BroadBand Light Treatment?

The first step is a complete consultation with Dr. Garramone to discuss the procedure and your unique skin concerns and goals. Dr. Garramone will walk you through the procedure so that you know what to expect and feel prepared.

From there, once you are ready to proceed with the treatment, we cleanse your skin and apply a clear gel to the treatment area. We will perform a series of passes over the skin with the BBL device as the device applies light flashes to the skin. The light penetrates your skin and targets the unwanted pigment, tissue or visible blood vessels. This reduces the appearance of the discoloration or wrinkles.

After the treatment, we cool the skin down and apply sunscreen.

In total, the BroadBand Light treatment takes about 15 minutes.

Recovery After BroadBand Light Treatment

One of the benefits of BroadBand Light in Fort Myers is that there is no recovery time or downtime. After your short, noninvasive appointment, you can return to your life and activities including wearing makeup.

If you have brown spots after treatment, these spots will get darker and then come off in a little under a week. It is important that you not pick or scrub off the spots. Allow them to come off on their own.

How long will it take to see my BroadBand Light results and how long will they last?

Depending on what skin condition you are treating, you will usually see immediate results. You will be able to note visible improvements to the effects of sun damage, redness, acne, fine lines or sagging skin, age spots and rosacea.

Results after one or two treatments last for a few months. Three or more treatments each year have shown the most positive results in smoother, firmer, more refreshed and rejuvenated skin. These benefits will last if you continue your treatments, with patients reporting continued satisfaction for over ten years.

Am I a candidate for BroadBand Light in Fort Myers?

BroadBand Light works best on lighter skin tones. Darker skin tones should avoid BroadBand Light, as the darker pigment absorbs too much light, causing darker spots to appear. If you have a tan from the sun, the best time to have a BBL treatment is during the winter months, when the skin is not tanned.

At your initial consultation, Dr. Garramone will review your skin concerns, examine your skin and discuss your treatment goals. We will help you decide on the best treatment for your skin tone and overall goals.
