Fractional CO2 Laser Hand Rejuvenation Therapy

Fractional CO2 laser therapy, also known as fully ablative fractional resurfacing and fractionated or pixilated carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment, delivers controlled energy to your hands. An ablative laser delivers an intense light beam, thus penetrating into the deeper layers of the dermis providing superior results. The laser therapy stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers and restores hydration and elasticity while rejuvenating the skin.

How Can Hand Rejuvenation Help?

Fractional CO2 laser hand rejuvenation treatments can help address the following common problems:

  • Darkened spots
  • Age spots
  • Spider veins
  • Wrinkled hands
  • Fine lines
  • Sun freckles
  • Scarring
  • Thinned collagen layer
  • Skin laxity and uneven coloration

Why Fractional CO2?

The Fractional CO2 laser is recommended for this procedure, as it tightens the skin and provides the opportunity for stimulation and the production of collagen, creating a more youthful appearance.

The CO2 Laser Hand Rejuvenation Procedure

First, the treatment area is defined and cleaned using soap and water. A cooling ice pack may be administered before and after the treatment. The fractional CO2 laser is then applied to penetrate the skin deeply, removing the damaged skin layers, stimulating collagen growth, and enhancing tissue renovation. Healthy cells will then be able to regenerate new skin layers, significantly reducing visible signs of aging.

What Is Expected after CO2 Laser?

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing recovery varies and depends on the depth of the laser treatment and the density of the treated skin. During the days following the procedure, it is important to closely follow the post-treatment instructions that will be given to you.

Typical hand rejuvenation recovery timeline, using a fractional CO2 laser:

  • Day 1 – The treated area will have a sun-burned look with a tight feeling
  • Day 2 – Treated skin may get darker or appear bronzed
  • Day 3 – The treated area may peel and could become mildly itchy
  • Day 7 – Treated skin is back to its normal appearance

Is Fractional CO2 Hand Rejuvenation an In-Office Procedure?

The hand rejuvenation procedure using the fractional CO2 laser is performed in the office. It is performed safely, quickly, and painlessly and does not require anesthesia. For the comfort of our patients, a topical anesthetic may be applied, and cold packs may be used before and after the procedure.

There is no downtime, ensuring our patients return to their normal routine immediately after the treatment. This procedure may require a few treatment sessions to optimize the results and will require annual maintenance once completed.
