Dermaplaning is a simple and safe exfoliating procedure. One of our certified Medical Estheticians delicately grazes the surface of the skin and simply shaves the epidermal with light strokes. Dermaplaning works by exfoliating your skin while also removing the fine vellus hair (commonly known as peach fuzz) from your face. Many who wish to improve the look of their facial skin will benefit from our Dermaplaning procedure, as it reduces the appearance of scars, wrinkles, or pre-cancerous growth. It may also be suggested for those who are scheduled to undergo laser treatment and chemical peels, as it will improve the efficacy of those procedures. Dermaplaning is only recommended for the face, and is best not used on the neck and nose.
Removing excess vellus hair, which can hold dirt and oils, will give your skin a healthier look without the worry that the hair will grow back heavier and darker. As long as the hair is superficial, it will grow back the same as before. This procedure also allows products to more easily penetrate your skin at deeper levels.
Pregnant or nursing women who wish to have deep exfoliation may use Dermaplaning safely without worrying about any chemicals being absorbed and affecting the fetus or child. Dermaplaning is often used on those with:
- Rough, dry skin
- Superficial hyperpigmentation
- Mild acne scarring
- Fine lines and wrinkles
After a Dermaplaning procedure there is no downtime and sunscreen is recommended for use on treated areas post-procedure. You will see results after just one procedure. The procedure can be repeated every 2 weeks but most patients wait 1 month between sessions.
